Ange Postecoglou has lived up to his promise of providing a trophy in his second season at Tottenham Hotspur, in a memorable night for fans - and many Spurs fans in the football.london say that his achievement puts any talk of sacking him after an otherwise troubling season to bed.
Spurs secured the Europa League trophy after a scrappy Brennan Johnson goal before half time, and by withstanding Manchester United's attempts to claw back the game with a dogged defensive performance. It was a big night after a tremendously difficult league campaign with Postecoglou's future in doubt numerous times, but qualifying for the Champions League in what was dubbed a "£100 million pound game" will make a huge difference for the club next season.
on him, Postecoglou said: "I know people talk about my football, which I am very proud of. I know people dismiss my achievements because they didn't happen on this side of the world, but for me they were all hard earned and all I have done my whole career is win things.

"I understand, look, obviously the way things have gone in the league, people are right to be concerned about, but I don't think that's a true reflection of where it is at. Whatever happens, my own belief in what I do doesn't waver and I'll continue to push on and do what I do."
For some ecstatic fans, that night was more than enough reason to continue with Postecoglou next season. Reader 1chuckspurs1 says: "Need to give Postecoglou credit, he said he always wins a trophy his second season and HE DID. Spurs have had many managers the last 17 years and they won zero trophies. Keep him. Spurs Forever."
Commenter Marlon1 writes: "I hope everyone heard Ange's interview with TNT. He wants to build. If Levy doesn’t let him it’ll be an absolute disgrace! ANGE IN!"
40-58 says: "Ange was given a 4 year contract, Daniel needs to trust Ange and let him do what he is good at, that's being a winner. All the so-called 'supporters' that called for him to be sacked, now need to apologise, and admit they were wrong."
Oldspur is also confident that he will get more time: "Not even Dan Levy can sack a manager who's just won a major trophy. But neither can he ignore an awful league season. So think Ange has bought himself some time - but if we're bottom half of table Nov/Dec, that might be the end for him. Unless we're hammering it in the CL!"
Jmp7newyork writes: "I am salivating to think at what Ange will win in his THIRD season! Given the circumstances this year, Ange and the coaches did an incredible job. I seriously doubt any team in PL history (and First Division too) has had the injury issues Spurs has had to contend with this year. Amazing job. Especially keeping the team motivated to play for the season.
"Ange, it’s obvious, has total support from the squad. He’s a great man manager. PL form? Disappointing, but whether we are 17th or 10th, we’d still be out of Europe. Keep Ange and the benefits will become a reality."
Kmd10 adds: "I feel like this rebuild isn't just a physical one but a rebuild of the club's pride. I think fans need to see the context of things and allow Ange to rebuild that image next season with a functioning dynamic. I think the only way for Spurs fans to get out of that self-deprecating cycle of insanity was to concede their pride (league position etc.) and rebuild from a trophy. Ange has gotten rid of the tag, but what happens from here is just as crucial I reckon."
Have your say! How much of a difference does Ange making good on his promise make to the club? .
