Christian Pulisic warned against 'jeopardy' of Liverpool transfer after failed Chelsea spell

Christian Pulisic has been , with the AC Milan star being advised to stay put in Italy.

, and he is once again being touted with a move to Anfield, this time as a potential replacement for . With the Egyptian’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, and the opportunity to reach a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club just around the corner, the Reds may well have to plan for life without their talisman.

According to , Pulisic has caught their eye, with the USA international scoring five times and adding two assists in eight games so far this season. It’s suggested that would need to double the $22.3m (£16.6m/€20m) Milan paid to sign him from Chelsea last year.

Pulisic’s previous spell in the didn’t quite work out, with the 26-year-old falling out of favor at Stamford Bridge before rediscovering his form out in Italy. That certainly wouldn’t put Liverpool off, with Salah having followed a similar path himself.

Former USMNT star Herculez Gomez though believes Pulisic shouldn’t make the same decision as Salah if the opportunity arises. Speaking about the rumors of a move to Anfield, he told : “I don’t hate it, and I understand that it’s Liverpool.

“I’m not going to get into a discussion about which team is bigger – whether it is Liverpool or AC Milan. Milan is one of those teams that the brand is notorious, it’s a massive club. He’s finally found a place where he’s valued, it doesn’t matter who the coach is, he feels comfortable in multiple positions. I wouldn’t jeopardize that for a move back to the Premier League.

“I like the fact that he has found a place where he’s thriving, I like the fact that he feels comfortable in a setup and he is the man there and they think of him as a leader, they think of him as an important piece to that puzzle right there. So I don’t want him going anywhere. I’ve finally found a Christian Pulisic that is doing well at the club level, and I do think these performances are going to translate at the international level, so I would like for him to stay.

“I understand the glitz and the glamour of the Premier League, but you don’t jeopardize that – certainly if you are at a place like AC Milan – just to test the water of the Premier League. You don’t need to prove anything to anybody.”

Liverpool.com says: Pulisic has always seemed like an interesting option for Liverpool to consider. Whether he has quite done enough to convince everyone he could be a good replacement should Salah leave in the summer though is up for debate.

He could be a player worth keeping an eye on for the remainder of the season, but right now it’s probably not a deal most would go for.
