'Deeply unsettling' horror film with top Rotten Tomatoes score you can now stream at home

Exciting news for horror movie fans, Sky and Now have just added scary film IT to their huge catalogues of movies.

The supernatural horror film, which initially released in cinemas back in 2017, is now available to watch on Sky Cinema and stream on Now.

Directed by Andy Muschietti and the first of a two-part adaptation of the 1986 novel of the same name by Stephen King, the film is set in Derry, Maine. The story follows 'The Losers Club', a group of seven outcast children, who are terrorised by a scary being that emerges from a sewer and presents itself as Pennywise the clown.

Young children begin to go missing in the town of Derry and it's not long before they realise that Pennywise, who can shapeshift into things you are most afraid of, is behind the disappearances.

What ensues is a desperate attempt from the seven children to try and fight against the creature and try to kill it.

The principal cast features Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff and Chosen Jacobs as The Losers Club. Meanwhile, actor Bill Skarsgard transforms into IT/Pennywise to terrify all of the children of Derry, Maine.

The film became a commercial success and grossed over $704.2 million worldwide against a budget of $37 million. It broke several box office records, becoming the third highest grossing R-rated film at the time of it's release as well as becoming the highest-grossing horror film of all time.

As well as being a commercial success, it was a critical success and received positive reviews, with critics praising the performances, direction, cinematography and music score.

IT received several awards and nominations, including two Washington D.C. Area Film Critics Association nominations, including Best Acting Ensemble.

Rotten Tomatoes awarded it a score of 85%, with one critic expressing: "Well-acted and fiendishly frightening with an emotionally affecting story at it's core. IT amplifies the horror in Stephen King's classic story without losing touch with it's heart."

Another critic penned: "IT proves remakes can easily make a name for themselves, improving on the old but creating an entirely new frightening, fun time." A third commented: "A freaky reboot with creepy moments."

While a third added: "Pennywise, the dancing clown who tracks down and torments the children of small-town Maine in It is deeply unsettling."
