Good Morning Britain viewers were left reaching for their remotes this morning, confessing they had to "switch over" due to a debate on the programme. Hosts and Robert Rinder invited two guests to hash out whether it's necessary to thank drivers on the road.

The segment was sparked by TV personality Rylan Clark, who ignited a fiery online discussion about road etiquette with a profanity-laced tirade against pedestrians on his social media. In a tweet he has since deleted, the beloved television star blasted those crossing at zebra crossings without acknowledging drivers as 'rude b*****ds'.

The Radio 2 presenter raged: "I know it's the law and that pedestrians have right of way at zebra crossings... BUT SAY THANK YOU OR POP UR HAND UP. Rude pr**ks... (Stuck in traffic and annoyed)."

However, following a wave of criticism, the tweet was swiftly removed and marked as "no longer available".

This morning's saw the topic turn into a heated exchange. Rob staunchly defended the importance of politeness on the streets, while Kate found herself inadvertently mixed up about her stance, despite having a strongly opinionated guest to back each of their views, reports .

Kate appeared to be momentarily confused about her position, remarking: "If you're a pedestrian you do feel a bit in battle these days."

She went on to suggest: "If cyclists and motorists perhaps offered a little more courtesy with a thank you when they've paused or stepped back when they're crossing a road and all that kind of thing, then maybe we would have a little bit more love all around."

Rob appeared quite baffled when he remarked: "You're arguing for him," gesturing towards the fellow debater.

In response, Kate retorted sharply: "Oh, shut up, you're a trained barrister. I'm doing the best I can," and then she burst into laughter.

However, fans on social media were not amused by the raucous back-and-forth. One viewer aired their dismay on X/ , saying: " This is the most embarrassing thing I've ever watched # ," and another voiced their disbelief: "I'm not really watching this 'debate' am I? #GMB".

One commented further: "Agree to disagree and stop trying to shout over each other #gmb." And another frustrated viewer stated: "Turning over, again what a load of."
