Hollyoaks star lands huge TV gig in popular Netflix show three years after exit

Callum Kerr has finally moved on from his time in Hollyoaks and landed a new role on Netflix as he prepares to join the line-up of a popular series.

The Scottish actor, 30, was known as the devious, manipulative and violent PC George Kiss, who was first introduced in the Channel 4 soap in 2020, before embarking on a relationship with John Paul McQueen.

George showed his true colours throughout his relationship with John Paul but he was eventually exposed, resulting in his exit. Things then took a shocking turn when John Paul's mother Sally St Claire (portrayed by Annie Wallace who has since left the programme), bludgeoned him with a bookend in a bid to save Theresa McQueen.

Following his on-screen death in Hollyoaks, aired in 2021, Callum Kerr has found a new role he can delve into as he gears up to star in the Netflix drama Virgin River.

The Sun has informed this Wednesday, September 25, as Virgin River's sixth season is in the works, that Callum will portray a younger version of Mel’s (Alexandra Breckenridge) father Everett Reid, who is being portrayed on the show by John Allen Nelson.

Regular viewers of the Netflix series will know that Mel discovered and met her birth father during the fifth season of Virgin River, before Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) was shot in the season finale.

Callum is now due to appear in a series of flashbacks as Mel finds out more about her father, including how he met her mother Sarah (Jessica Rothe) - another proof he is worlds away from his past in the eponymous Channel 4 village.

Since leaving Hollyoaks, Callum relocated from the UK and moved to Nashville in the United States, where he works as an actor and a country singer. Aside from his upcoming role in Virgin River, he is also set to appear as Smoker in another Netflix hit, One Piece.

In more recent news, Callum also announced great news to social media as he confirmed he was engaged to his girlfriend, who is expecting their first child.

"Took this girl on a horse ride through the Western Cape and asked if she would spend the rest of her life with me," he posted, much to his fans' joy. Former co-star Billy Price, who played Sid Sumner, was quick to congratulate the happy couple as he commented: "Congrats bro."

Back in July, Callum announced that his then girlfriend Lauren was expecting their first child together. Taking to Instagram at the time, the future dad announced the joyous news as he gushed over his other half.

"Ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a dad. I can’t wait to welcome this little one into the world with my love, my angel, my partner in crime," he penned alongside a sweet snap of himself cradling his girlfriend Lauren's bump.
