Horror India bus crash kills 12 passengers and the driver as vehicle is sliced in half

Twelve people have been killed and dozens more injured careered into a concrete structure and was sliced in half.

The vehicle was on its way from Salasar when it rammed into a part of the flyover in as it took a turn. Police believe it was speeding at the time of the crash.

So far 12 people have died, including the unnamed driver. Horror photos from the scene show the mangled remains of the bus. A crane was used to move the wreckage as the search for survivors continues.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said on X: “"The loss of life in the bus accident in Sikar's Laxmangarh area is extremely sad and heartbreaking. My deepest condolences are with the bereaved families of the deceased.

“The concerned officials have been directed to ensure proper treatment of the injured. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give place to the departed souls in his feet and grant speedy recovery to the injured.”

Families of those killed in the tragedy will be given 200,000 Indian Rupees (around £1,829), according to India's prime minister Narendra Modi. Those hurt in the crash will get a little less, at 50,000 Indian Rupees (£450).

Most of the injured have been taken to Jaipur. Some of the dead have been named locally and efforts are continuing to identify the rest. Family members have been informed, where possible.

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee President Govind Singh Dotasra added: "My deepest condolences to those who lost their loved ones in this sad and unfortunate accident. As soon as the accident came to light, we spoke to the local administrative officials for immediate treatment of the injured and all possible assistance.

“May God give peace to the souls of the departed and strength to the families to bear this shock."
