Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister issues true thoughts on Arne Slot with Jurgen Klopp claim

Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister has underlined how big of a challenge Arne Slot has facing him after succeeding Jurgen Klopp, but believes that the future is bright.

Slot has enjoyed an impressive start to life as Liverpool manager, winning four of his five fixtures across the Premier League and Champions League. But replacing Klopp isn't as simple as that, with the German going down as one of the club's all-time greatest managers thanks to his impact on and off the pitch.

Mac Allister, 25, is expected to be one of Slot's most important players in the years to come and he believes that although it'll take a mammoth effort for the Dutchman to match Klopp's success, things are heading in that direction. "I think the team is still in a period of transition, which is quite normal," midfielder Mac Allister told club media ahead of Saturday's clash with Bournemouth.

"Jurgen was here for a good few years. For example, there are some players who had only ever played under Jurgen and had never had another coach. So, it is a significant change within the club, but I think Arne came here with very good ideas and I think that the whole group and the fans can see what he is wanting to do and the ideas he is wanting to express in the team."

Mac Allister went on to reveal the dressing room's feelings about Slot, saying: "We're all very happy and feel really positive about what is ahead.

"As I say, we've a lot of games coming up and there's a lot of competition, and that's what we like; this squad is full of great players, and we can take on board the tactical ideas that Arne wants to implement. But as I mentioned, we are in a transitional period and looking to put in place the ideas and concepts that Arne wants us to."

Slot already knows that he's been given a solid platform for success thanks to Klopp's work, particularly in his final years as he rejuvenated the Reds' squad. "He has done a tremendous job over here and I am really happy with that as a fan, but now as his successor he left Liverpool in the best possible way, I think," the former Feyenoord boss said during pre-season.

"So, a very good team, the fans are very good as well, so [I am] looking forward to it."
