A statement from the Portuguese club read: " FC expressed interest in hiring coach Rúben Amorim, with the Board of Directors of Sporting SAD referring to the terms and conditions set out in the employment contract in force between the Company and the coach, specifically for the respective termination clause and for the amount of €10m.
" Manchester United FC expressed interest in paying Sporting SAD the value of the aforementioned clause."

But there appears to be some work still to be done before Amorim's move can be made official. According to , the two clubs are still in talks over a €5m severance package for Amorim's backroom team.
Sporting president Frederico Varandas is determined to get that fee. And that has left Amorim still in situ at Sporting. report that the 39-year-old has shown up as usual for training on Wednesday.
He apparently arrived at the club's training ground at approximately 9am. He will take training as usual, with the session expected to revolve around recovery following a 3-1 win against Nacional on Tuesday evening.
Amorim spoke out on United's approach for his services after the game. He said: "We don't know if it's a farewell game, or if there will be one; that's still not been decided.

And the decision is mine as the statement stated. When I am sure of everything, everything will be easier because to say something now, is not the best action to take."
Meanwhile, Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres added: "Well, now he's here. I'm focussing on that; it's not something I know. It's not about me, so at the moment he's here. We will see what happens, but it's not something I put energy on."
