Miranda Hart reveals heartbreaking reason she and new husband cried on first date

has discussed her emotional first date with her , revealing they cried together.

The revelation comes as the actress shared that she had tied the knot with a man who she met over lockdown. Despite not sharing his identity, she has said that their first date ended up in tears.

She said that the couple got to know each other socially-distanced over a cup of tea but they soon got into a deep conversation. said that getting to know each other in this way made her fell more "relaxed" as she didn't have to think about the "ghastly" first kiss.

Writing in her new autobiography, I Haven't Been Entirely Honest With You, she said: "The date therefore consisted of a cup of tea in my sitting room, with some social distancing in force, passing biscuits to each other at arm’s length. In many ways, it made it feel more relaxed. There’s no fear of how to partake of the often ghastly first-kiss lunge when we have to be two metres apart!

"However, having met The Boy once briefly, and having chatted to him a couple of times on the phone (very nineties of us), I was already pretty taken by him. I therefore decided I was going to practise not hiding myself or any natural emotions. I was going to be vulnerable to forge as honest a connection as I could."

However, Miranda noted that the date took a more emotional turn which ended in both of them in tears. She added: "Yes, we’d been chatting and getting on very well and easily, thank you very much, please. I didn’t police a beautiful, natural, connecting moment when he told me about a dog he’d lost ten years earlier, and how sad he still feels when he thinks of that goodbye. He too welled up a little."

Miranda first crossed paths with her husband when he came to her London house to sort out a mould problem. It seems she and the building surveyor hit it off and they then quickly arranged another meet up.

The quotes her writing: "I met my best friend and the love of my life who brings me more silliness, laughter, joy, support, care and safety than I thought possible in a person, because I lost my house due to mould illness and he was the building surveyor on the house remediation project.
