Nearly 138,000 beds being recalled after reports they collapse during use

Send Push

Almost 138,000 platform beds sold at major retailers including Amazon and Walmart are being recalled across the US and Canada due to a risk of collapse, which could lead to falls and injuries.

The recall is for Lucid-branded platform beds with upholstered square tufted headboards, imported by Utah-based CVB Inc. According to notices from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada on Thursday, the beds can sag, break or collapse during use. So far, there have been 245 incidents in the US, resulting in 18 related injuries such as contusions and bruises.

An additional 11 reports of “bed failures” have been reported in Canada, with no further injuries. Lucid states that the recall covers a discontinued version of its platform beds, manufactured between 2019 and 2021.

Despite manufacturing ending several years ago, these now-recalled beds continued to be sold at major retailers until April 2024. In addition to Amazon and Walmart, the beds may also have been purchased from Bed Bath & Beyond, eBay, Home Depot, Macys, Target.com, Wayfair and other retailers.

About 137,000 of the recalled beds were sold in the US and 890 in Canada. The beds — which were manufactured in Malaysia and are available in twin, full, queen, king, and cal-king sizes — can be identified by a white law label on the back of the headboard. It should have "Made For: CVB INC, 1525 W 2960 S, LOGAN, UT 84321" printed on it.

Owners of the recalled beds are being strongly advised to cease using them immediately and get in touch with Lucid for a complimentary replacement frame. Customers will need to mark the word “recalled” on the bed's support rails using a permanent marker and send photos to Lucid.
