Oliver Glasner said that showed why are at the top of the table during the Reds' win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Reds have now won nine of their 10 matches under Slot this season, with six of those victories coming from seven matches in the top flight.

as he nicked in front of his marker and tucked home a neat finish from Cody Gakpo's cut-back.

Liverpool was clearly the better team throughout the first half before Palace came back into the game after the break, and Palace's manager acknowledged the visitors' dominance in his post-match interview.

"I think in the first half, Liverpool showed why they lost just one game and won every other game," Glasner said. "We struggled a bit but we created a lot more in the second half."

Glasner made his frustration clear at Palace not being awarded a penalty after Marc Guehi was held in the box by Virgil van Dijk. He said: "It was a clear penalty on Marc Guehi, a clear foul [from Virgil van Dijk]. He holds him with two hands.

"It is a loss but the second half gives us a lot of confidence for the next games. We were competitive in the second half with the best team at the moment. We have to build on that.

"Many players are leaving during the international break. A lot of injuries are coming. We will prepare for the Tottenham game and build on the second half. We showed that if we play aggressively, we can cause them problems. We just needed to take our chances.

"I don't know about this term [sustained holding, regarding the Van Dijk-Guehi penalty incident]. When I see the picture, I don't have to look at anything else. Marc makes a move towards the ball and he is held with both hands so he can't go to the ball. It is in the box so it is a penalty. If the same foul is on the halfway line, it is a foul."

The Premier League clarified the reason behind the decision, writing on X: "The referee’s call of no penalty for the challenge by Van Dijk on Guehi is checked and confirmed by VAR - deeming that the challenge was not sustained holding and had no impact on the play."
