Radio 2's Scott Mills directly addresses Liam Payne's dad with heartbreaking message

BBC Radio 2 presenter has expressed his deep sorrow over reminiscing about the times they spent together over the years.

He began his afternoon show on the station with a heartfelt statement: "The tragic news about Liam Payne is a really hard one to take in because I never thought we would have to say goodbye to him so soon. I had so much fun with , as a lot of you will know, over the years and their memories will stay with me for life, and Liam was such a big part of it."

He humorously recalled feeling like the sixth member of One Direction due to the amount of time he spent with them during their peak years while he was presenting on Radio 1. Scott also shared a fond memory of laughing with Liam when the singer's father Geoff wanted a selfie with him at the One Direction movie premiere, despite having already met stars like and Mariah Carey.

The presenter struggled to hold back tears as he delivered a special message to Geoff, saying: "So, Geoff, I don't know if you're hearing this, but my heart goes out to you today and to the rest of Liam's family, and, of course, to his little boy." He concluded: "I just feel so incredibly sad about all of this. Liam, we had so much fun and you were always the kindest, most caring person to me."

"Thank you for letting me be part of your ride. I will never forget it. The band were all so lovely always, but Liam was kind of the grown-up one in the group, the wise one. And I can't bear that this is where Liam's story has ended." He then dedicated the One Direction hit, Story Of My Life, to Liam, his family and his fans.

on Wednesday evening. Police, firefighters and ambulances were seen outside of a hotel building after Liam tragically fell. A body was found in an internal patio of the hotel. The police were called to the hotel by the hotel manager. It's believed that Liam fell from the third floor and suffered "very serious injuries incompatible with life."

Liam’s family have spoken publicly following the tragic news. In a they shared: “We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.”

Prelimary autopsy results have showed Liam died from multiple injuries sustained in his fall that led to “internal and external haemorrhaging.” Two forensic pathologists, named locally as Santiago Maffia Bizzozero and Victor Roberto Cohen, reached the conclusions during a post-mortem today in Buenos Aires.
