Roy Keane still finds room to bash Trent Alexander-Arnold after praising Liverpool defender

Roy Keane once again took the opportunity to slam Trent Alexander-Arnold for his defending despite praising the Liverpool star for his "lovely goal".

The Reds defender on Sunday in an eyebrow-raising decision from interim boss Lee Carsley, leading to say that even in his natural position against Greece on Thursday he "looked like he'd never played right-back before."

appeared to be caught out on a few occasions in Helsinki but quickly silenced his critics with a well-taken goal in the Finnish capital, scoring a delightful free-kick late on to double lead.

It led Keane to actually praise the 26-year-old for his "great technique", saying on ITV's coverage of the game: "Lovely goal, great technique. The technique is fantastic, the power behind it, and there's probably no chance for the goalkeeper.

"I'm usually harsh on goalkeepers but I'll go easy on that one. The power and the accuracy behind the goal makes it very difficult to stop."

However, it didn't take long for Keane to have a pop at the Liverpool right-back for his defending once more shortly after, specifically highlighting that Alexander-Arnold will be caught out against better opposition.

When questioned on the risk and reward of playing Alexander-Arnold at left-back by ITV presenter Mark Pougatch, he said: "If you give time to Trent, you can see his decision-making, his quality passing is fantastic but honestly, I still can't believe how bad he is defensively. Against better teams, of course he'll be found out."

Carsley insisted Alexander-Arnold's role would be when justifying his decision to start him at left-back, which understandably among the fanbase.

However, no matter where he plays, it appears Keane will always find a way to criticize him for his defending - even if he does score an incredible goal like he did against Finland tonight.
