Son Heung-min shows true colours with comments about Tottenham kid Mikey Moore

Son Heung-min has promised to stick by Mikey Moore during his development at Tottenham Hotspur and backed him to become a future star.

The Spurs winger was part of the 10-man side that beat Qarabag FK 3-0 in the Europa League on Thursday evening and has been a longtime servant to the club over the years.

The South Korean, who has had vast experience in the Premier League and Europe, is understood to be one of the main players in the dressing room tasked with helping burgeoning talents come through in the hope his experience will rub off on some of them.

Son has already tipped 17-year-old Moore, who came on during the Europa League clash, for big things, stating that he is a hard-working player who should be offered time to develop and become a "top player".

Speaking ahead of the Qarabag fixture, the 32-year-old said: "Yeah, he’s a fantastic boy and obviously, I mean, he’s coming from the academy. You as a club, you look after him even more.

"Everybody is so welcoming and looking after him, so do I, because he’s such a lovely kid and working hard every single day, coming with the first team with that age it’s not easy, you know, like sometimes you’re very shy.

"But he’s showing good personality and working hard, which is very important to me. When you see the young players are working hard in the first team and you just want to help, you just want to help him. When I was young, and now he’s coaching at Manchester United, Ruud van Nistelrooy, he was helping me a lot in my Hamburg time.

"Now I want to be that guy as well, you know, just having him around me and just talking about things, because we are playing in a similar position that if I can help him a little bit with advice, then I’m always open to it.

"Mikey is also coming to me most of the times and asking questions, which is very fun. I enjoy talking to him. He’s a fantastic boy and then I’m definitely sure that he can be a fantastic player. There’s no doubt because he has such amazing quality.

"As we always say about young players, let’s don’t give him too much pressure on his shoulders. Just let’s enjoy how he develops, how he improves every single day, every single season and as a fan, as supporters, we should just enjoy watching him and he will be, I think, one of the top players."

Son's comments show how dedicated he is to helping the youngsters at the club and sums up the camaradie in Ange Postecoglou's squad.

The Tottenham boss might have to call upon the young winger sooner rather than later, however, as his elder counterpart Son limped off in the 71st minute in last week's Europa League game.

The Australian played down any injury concerns immediately after the match, stating: "I haven’t spoke to him. He said he felt a bit tired, but I haven’t spoken to him or the medical team yet."

However, on Friday he admitted that Son will face late fitness test before their trip to take on Manchester United, saying: "Sonny, I don't think is too bad. He wants to train tomorrow and we will see how it goes and make a decision from there. We have another day up our sleeve to give him every chance."
