Taylor Swift TV cameos fans can't miss and story behind her gruesome CSI role

Send Push

Taylor Swift's been rather busy lately, with the success of her eleventh studio album and her record-breaking Eras Tour. But as Swifties know, she's always got something in the works.

Over the years, she's surprised fans with all sorts of unexpected projects, and she's tried her hand at acting more than once. Along with her starring roles in blockbuster films, she's also appeared in some of the biggest TV shows of all time. It's no surprise then that her award-winning music videos feature rather impressive performances.

Granted, she's not been on the small screen for some time, but it's well worth a trip down memory lane if you're a superfan who happened to miss her cameos the first time round.

The singer famously honed her acting chops with an appearance on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation back in 2009. Taylor joined the fan-favourite show for one episode, and in typical CSI fashion, the plot was rather gruesome.

Taylor, then 19, played the character of teenage victim Haley Jones. Making her CSI debut, Taylor was introduced to the audience when her character was found dead in a motel car park. Her story was then revealed through a series of flashbacks — though we'll pause there to avoid spoilers.

If you haven't seen it, the episode was a big deal at the time, especially for Taylor, a CSI megafan. She told Katie Couric: "All my friends know that my dream is to die on 'CSI.' I've always wanted to, like, be one of the characters on there that they're tryin' to figure out what happened to."

Fast forward a few years and she also played a memorable role in 'New Girl'. Taylor joined the sitcom to play Shivrang's ex-girlfriend for one episode in 2013. On his wedding day, she interrupted celebrations, and it was almost as if she'd stepped straight out of her hit song 'Speak Now'.

Fans of the show will know what happened next after the objection, but the episode is well worth a rewatch just to see Taylor's cameo.

Speaking about Taylor's appearance in the season 2 finale, Elizabeth Meriwether, the show's creator, told EW: "She kind of came and nailed it. We love bringing in guest stars, but we really try to make it feel like they’re part of the show and it’s not just stunt casting."

In the years since, Taylor's seemingly shied away from the small screen, instead focusing on movie roles and her music videos, but fans hope she might return to TV for her bestie Selena Gomez. Swifties say they'd love to see the singer guest star on Disney+ show 'Only Murders in the Building'.

While it's fair to say the cast has been rather coy about the rumours, it sounds like fans might have to wait a while before the friends get the chance to work together. "You're hilarious," Selena told E! News when asked about the possibility of a Taylor cameo. "She's a little busy, you guys."

Either way, it's clear Taylor has the credentials. She's just got the scheduling to work out.
