An American tourist blasted as "unseasoned trash" after a trip to the UK, causing quite the stir on TikTok.
Charlie, a 24-year-old from New Jersey, managed to rack up over 1.1 million views for her no-holds-barred critique under her handle
She claimed: "It's been really popular to s**t on British food in the last year and I am here to tell you it's not wrong." Her tasting tour included high-street favourites , Nando's, and , as well as a classic British Chinese takeaway – none of which seemed to impress her.

Speaking of her culinary journey she said: "I went to the UK. I had a variety of food while I was there. I was shown around by natives. So for all you Brits out there, I did go to Wetherspoons. I did go to Toby's. I did have a 'proper Chinese', all terrible."
Charlie didn't hold back in comparing British dining experiences with those back home, asserting that British offerings "could never touch" American counterparts. Her impression of Wetherspoons was particularly blunt, dismissing it as "nothing special" and likening the pub chain to an English version of American spots like Chili's or Applebee's.
The TikToker then compared Nando's to "a mild version" of chain chicken restaurant Chipotle. She added: "It's not that special. We have one in Miami. Next time you're in Florida, just like go visit it. It's really nothing great.", reports .
In search of a traditional Sunday roast experience, the 24-year-old popped into a Toby Carvery and brazenly claimed that the American roast dinner trumps the British version. "They're probably better than anything that they [Brits] could ever imagine," she said.
Describing her dining experiences as hit-or-miss during her stay in the UK, she remarked that the only meals she could consistently stomach were at chain restaurants since "everything else was a f***ing gamble." The woman, seen gagging while speaking on social media, bluntly stated: "Y'all do not do seasoning. I don't give a f***, y'all don't use them."
Her scathing assessment didn’t end there; after sampling a British Chinese takeaway, Charlie shockingly called the fare a "suicide". This no-holds-barred review soon went viral, sparking other American tourists to join in with their feedback. A Louisiana native commented: "Louisiana boy, here. I'd rather [die]. Our worst food probably tastes delicious by comparison".
One person remarked: "It always looks cold. The only food that looks good is when they make homemade Sunday roast dinners." Echoing this view, another user quipped: "[British food] always looks cold lol. The only food that looks good is when they make homemade Sunday roast dinners."
A third critic pointed out: "They don't like ranch over there, I think it's because it's too flavourful." However, not everyone was dismissive of British culinary offerings. In defence of UK fare, a chap asserted: "Full English breakfast almost always slaps though."
Another chimed in with support for a classic, saying: "Fish and chips is probably their best." An American lady now living in the UK revealed her take on pub grub: "I'm an American living in the UK and Wetherspoons is just for getting drunk on pitchers and onion rings."
Drawing on personal experience, another added: "I'm from Texas and lived there for six years, and loved the food there." Meanwhile, one commenter highlighted the price-quality nexus: "That's what you get when you choose cheap, convenient places to eat."
