Sean Toal, of WHSmith, said: “We take great pride in being the steward of this much-loved brand in the UK. We’ve had queues around the block for many openings in the last year.”
Toys “R” Us arrived in the UK in 1985 and at its peak had 105 stores.
Locations will include Leicester, Cardiff, Scarborough, Southport, Dumfries, Coventry and Carlisle.
