Why is Google giving Rs 8500? Everyone wants to know the answer to this question. The company is going to start the battery performance program after receiving continuous complaints from users running the Pixel 6a regarding overheating and battery performance. Under this program, the company will either replace the battery for free or you will be given $ 100 (about Rs 8500) as compensation.

The company will also roll out the Android 16 update from tomorrow, July 8, to improve the battery performance of the Pixel 6a and reduce the risk of overheating.

Who is eligible?

All users running Pixel 6a can get the battery changed by visiting the authorized service center of the company. Those who do not want to get the battery changed can choose the Google Store credit option of $ 100 (about Rs 8500) or $ 150 (about Rs 12800).

To check whether you are eligible or not, go to the company's support page. You can click here to go directly to the page. After going to this page, tap on the confirm button shown below, on the next page, you will have to enter the IMEI number of the phone. After this, enter the email address linked to the device and submit it.

One thing to note here is that due to local regulations, the facility of cash payment will not be available in all countries. The company will provide you with payments through third party Payoneer, for which details like ID proof and PAN card may be sought from the users. Google said that the final amount will depend on the daily exchange rate.

These people will not get the benefit
Google has clarified that phones with liquid damage or physical damage will not be eligible for free battery service. Apart from this, if the phone is not in warranty and the screen is broken, then the company will charge you a service fee for this.

Note: Google says that the battery replacement feature will be available at walk-in repair centers in Canada, the US, Germany, the United Kingdom (UK), Japan, Singapore, and India from July 21, 2025.
