As temperatures soar in Uttar Pradesh, the District Magistrate of Mainpuri, Anjani Kumar Singh, has taken a crucial step to protect children from the effects of the ongoing heatwave. A fresh directive has been issued to change the school timings for classes up to grade eight, aiming to reduce students’ exposure to intense heat during the day.
⏰ New School Timings AnnouncedStarting Saturday, all schools in the district — irrespective of the board — will operate from 7 AM to 12 noon. The Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Deepika Gupta has sent official communication to all school heads, instructing them to comply with the revised schedule until further notice.
Teachers in council-run schools will be required to stay on the premises until 1 PM to manage official and administrative responsibilities after student dispersal.
🌡️ Reason for Change: Extreme Heat ConditionsThe region is currently experiencing temperatures around 40°C, making it hazardous for children to be in school during peak daytime hours. Reports suggest that heat-related health issues are rising, particularly among young students, prompting the administration to act swiftly.
As per the DM’s order, this measure has been taken in the interest of student safety and well-being, especially since children are more vulnerable to dehydration and heatstroke.
📋 Mandatory Precautions in SchoolsTo further ensure the safety of students, the following guidelines have been made compulsory for all schools:
-
Digital thermometers or monitors must be installed to keep a check on indoor temperatures and heatwave intensity.
-
Schools must provide cold drinking water and maintain sufficient ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) sachets for students.
-
Proper ventilation and shaded areas within classrooms and school grounds must be ensured.
-
All kinds of outdoor activities, sports, and assemblies are banned until the weather becomes favorable.
School management committees are expected to implement these directives strictly. The district education department will monitor compliance regularly, and any negligence may invite disciplinary action.
Parents are also being informed through various channels to ensure they are aware of the new timings and precautions.
🧒 A Relief for Students and ParentsThis proactive move by the district administration is receiving appreciation from both parents and teachers. Not only will it safeguard students’ health, but it will also help maintain attendance during this intense weather spell.
As climate patterns continue to shift, more districts may follow Mainpuri’s lead, setting an example in climate-sensitive educational policy planning.
