The Uttar Pradesh government has approved recruitment for more than 1200 posts across 71 new government degree colleges in the state.

These posts include Principals, Assistant Professors, Librarians, and non-teaching staff (Group III and Group IV employees).

Principals: 71 posts

Assistant Professors: 1136 posts (across Arts, Science, and Commerce faculties)

Librarians: 71 posts

Group III Staff (e.g., Senior Assistant, Junior Assistant): 639 posts

Group IV Staff (e.g., cleaners, watchmen, attendants): 710 posts (to be filled through outsourcing)

Teaching posts (Principals, Assistant Professors, Librarians) will be filled through the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC).

Recruitment will follow the eligibility criteria and selection process as per government orders from 2019.

Group IV posts will be filled through outsourcing via the GeM portal, mostly for cleaning, security, and support staff.

Some posts will be filled by direct recruitment, while others may be through promotion of existing staff.

The Department of Higher Education has been directed to review the posts and ensure standards and pay scales are as per norms.

The government aims to fill these vacant posts quickly to strengthen the education system in these new colleges.
