The companies are compensated by the government based on the number of tickets issued. But till now any woman in Delhi was getting this facility of free travel.
Rekha Gupta Government of the national capital Delhi has decided to continue the free bus scheme already started for women. But it has been made even easier by adding some more conditions to it. That is, now only those women will have the facility of free travel in the capital who are residents of Delhi.
But, one condition for this is that now those women will have to register first. For this, the Delhi government is preparing to issue a lifetime smart card. That is, now women coming from other states will not be able to get the benefit of traveling in Delhi DTC bus. According to reports, soon the complete process of registration for this will also start.
At present, women have to take pink tickets to travel for free, but as soon as their smart card is made after registration, their journey in DTC buses will become easier.
It is worth noting that the Pink Ticket Scheme was started by the previous Kejriwal government in Delhi in the year 2019 on the occasion of Bhaiya Dooj. In this, pink tickets are given to women during the journey and its price is Rs 10 per ticket.
The companies are compensated by the government on the basis of the number of tickets issued. But till now any woman in Delhi had got this facility of free travel, but after further planning, women from Delhi to other states will not be able to get this facility.
In this regard, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that digital cards will allow women to travel in public buses at any time. Along with this, there will be transparency in the entire ticket process.
