Indian karting driver Jagrat Detroja is set to compete in the 2025 FIA Karting European and World Championships, making him the only Indian participant across all categories. At 13, he has already secured multiple podiums internationally and will now race against top young talents worldwide.
Jagrat began karting in 2018 at age seven, earning his first podium and the ‘Best Newcomer of the Year’ title. In 2020, he moved to Spain to train with ETMC Motorsports and Tony Kart , a leading kart manufacturer. His performances have included a P3 finish in the Spanish Championship and participation in the 2024 FIA Karting Championship, Champions of the Future, and WSK Championship.
In 2024, he represented India in the Junior category at the FIA Motorsport Games, securing pole position but finishing P5 due to technical issues. With this experience, he now prepares for the 2025 FIA Karting European and World Championships, known as a pathway to Formula 1. The competition will take place across challenging circuits in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Denmark, and Sweden.
In March 2025, Jagrat joined Antonelli Motorsport, a team owned by the father of Mercedes F1 driver Kimi Antonelli. This move provides him with a stronger platform to refine his skills. He will also compete in the Champions of the Future 2025 series, a feeder championship for FIA-level karting.
Jagrat expressed his commitment to representing India at the highest level, stating that his goal is continuous improvement and eventually advancing to single-seater racing. His journey marks India’s growing presence in global motorsport, with expectations high for his performance in the upcoming season.
Speaking about his upcoming season, Jagrat said “Representing India on the global stage is a dream come true for me. Competing in the FIA Karting European and World Championships is a tough challenge, but I am fully prepared to give it my best. My focus is on continuous improvement, pushing my limits, and making my country proud. This season is a crucial step toward my ultimate goal of reaching single-seater racing.”
