New Delhi [India], October 16 (ANI): A meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Central Election Committee began here on Wednesday evening to decide party candidates in Maharahstra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister and party chief JP Nadda are among the party leaders attending the meeting being held at the party headquarters.
Elections to the 288-member Maharashtra legislative assembly will be held in a single phase on November 20. Votes will be counted on November 23.
A meeting of BJP's CEC on Jharkhand polls was held on Tuesday.
The key contenders in the Maharashtra elections are the ruling Mahayuti Alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress.
In the parliamentary elections to 48 seats in the state, the opposition MVA fared well by securing 30 seats.
Assembly polls in Jharkhand will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20. The Election Commission, which held a press conference to announce the poll dates in the two states on Tuesday, also announced bypolls in 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats across 15 states.
The results will be be declared on November 23. (ANI)
