Today they are known as one of the most beloved couples on the small screen. However, the journey has not always been a bed of roses. In a candid conversation with her son Aaryamann Sethi, actress Archana Puran Singh admitted that she and her husband, Parmeet Sethi, had experienced difficulties in their marriage. Both of them had made mistakes and sometimes let their ego speak for them.

However, she also admitted that Parmeet had been a very good father to both of their sons and their mutual love for the children was one of the factors that kept them together.

“You were young at that time, but even during that time, I knew that my children would always have their father, and I knew that nobody could be a better father than him. Somebody who has loved you guys more than me is your father, and I thought to myself, I cannot let this marriage fail..” she said.

How The Couple Relied On Meditation To Save Their Marriage

The pair decided to join the Art of Living Foundation and started meditating to solve their marital problems. Meditating helped them address unresolved traumas and gave their marriage a new lease of life. Even today, although they fight at least “15 times” a day, meditation helped them resolve their differences and made them realise they couldn’t live without each other.

“Meditation makes you look at things differently, and the things that irritate you about the other person won’t irritate you after practicing it. We started appreciating each other’s real nature..” she said.

Earlier, in another candid chat with Aaryamann, Parmeet admitted they were experiencing a difficult phase in their marriage. “We were going through a very bad time as husband and wife. We were fighting a lot,” he recalled.

He reminisced about how the Art of Living course helped him address unresolved traumas. Parmeet shared that the course helped him release everything he had been carrying within himself for years. He described how the emotions and pain he had suppressed finally surfaced, allowing him to grieve deeply for his late sister. He wept without restraint and felt a sense of relief that he had long been denied. At that stage in his life, he often followed strict diets, but during meditation, he vividly pictured himself enjoying rich and indulgent food. This visualization, he believed, contributed to the healing of his body, as many of his physical troubles disappeared soon after.

He explained that the breathing practice introduced in the program, known as Sudarshan Kriya, left a profound mark on him. Just one session of the technique brought about an intense emotional release, making him break down in tears. For the first time, he realized the extent of the grief and burdens he had been suppressing for so long. This breakthrough not only lifted a heavy weight from his heart but also gave him a renewed sense of emotional freedom and physical well-being.

Parmeet and Archana tied the knot in 1992.
