Radio jockey Mahvash recently found herself in the spotlight after rumors surfaced linking her to Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. Speculation surrounding their connection gained traction following Chahal’s separation and finalized divorce from his wife, Dhanashree Verma.

Addressing the rumors directly, Mahvash made it clear during an episode of Yuvaa’s podcast 'TheGoodGirlsShow' that she is currently not in a relationship. “I’m very much single,” she stated firmly, adding that she finds it difficult to relate to the modern idea of marriage.

Mahvash went on to explain that she doesn’t engage in casual dating. Her intention has always been to date someone only when she sees a serious future with them. “Just like Ali in Dhoom, I start imagining kids and the future," she said with a laugh, hinting at her deep-rooted desire for meaningful commitment.

Mahvash Gets Candid About Her 'Bad Phase'

In the same conversation, Mahvash bravely opened up about a particularly traumatic chapter from her younger years. She shared that she had once been engaged to someone who betrayed her trust on multiple occasions. “He cheated on me not once, but three times,” she recalled. The betrayal had lasting effects, not just emotionally but also physically, shaking her mental health and stability.

Mahvash revealed that she got engaged at the age of 19, heavily influenced by the societal expectations in her hometown of Aligarh, where finding a husband was seen as the ultimate goal for women. However, by the time she was 21, she had broken off the engagement. Initially, she chose to remain silent, fearing backlash and social stigma. “The first two times, I stayed quiet, thinking it would lead to badnami (disgrace). But how much can one tolerate?" she said.

She also admitted that the ordeal badly shook her confidence. "You tend to think that he left you because the other woman was better. You check your clothes multiple times in front of the mirror for flaws".

Mahvash Had To Undergo Medical Treatment

The emotional toll was so heavy that Mahvash began experiencing panic attacks and had to take injections to manage the overwhelming stress. The situation was even more distressing because the man causing her pain was still a part of her life at that time.

"I was on injections, had panic attacks, and had to be admitted (to a hospital) ," she confessed.

“The doctors would ask my parents what was going on, but I couldn’t tell them that the very person I fought to get engaged to was the one causing all this damage,” she added.

Eventually, she summoned the courage to call off the relationship, realizing that her dignity and peace of mind mattered more than society’s opinion. Though the experience shattered her confidence, leading her to question her appearance and worth, she now sees it as a defining moment. Mahvash believes that hardship taught her resilience and helped her rediscover her own value.
