Indian-origin rapper Genesis Yasmine Mohanraj, who goes by her stage name Tommy Genesis, found herself at the receiving end of severe backlash after her latest music video, True Blue, went viral online for all the wrong reasons. In the video, she can be seen dressed up as a Hindu Goddess and also using a cross as prop and this did not sit well with the people of both the communities.
Mohanraj, who has a Canadian citizenship, can be seen dressed up like Hindu Goddess with blue paint and heavy gold jewellery, complete with a red bindi. At the same time, she can also be seen carrying a cross, licking it, and even posing with it by placing it near her posterior. People of both the communities called it "blasphemy", and some called it a "cheap attempt at getting famous".

"Her Indian descent makes it very likely that her makeup is deliberately done to hurt Hindu sentiments. Blasphemy (sic)," a user wrote on X. Another netizen added, "Did you not see the cross coming out of her butt? She's hurting everyone's sentiments, maybe on purpose, to go viral. Cheap tactics (sic)."
"Her new song openly mocks both Hindu and Christian faiths. This is not creativity this is pure disrespect (sic)," an angry user stated.
Mohanraj has not responded to the backlash yet.
