Leaders can only stand tall on the fundamentals of the foundation of Wellness. No leader could be in a position to think, create and be productive without wellness. No leader would be able to strategize or have creative solutions to problems, or issues surrounded by global economic turmoil, war, etc. In the absence of wellness, leaders can’t even convince their followers or team to look up to them with 100% conviction. Leaders who are fit, healthy, and well are looked up to as heroes; such leaders create a charisma of sorts.
With the fundamentals on the foundation of Yoga helps one develop true Leadership qualities. In yoga, the four bhavas, or attitudes, are:
1) Dharma Bhava (Duty),
2) Jnana Bhava (Knowledge),
3) Vairagya Bhava (Objectivity), and
4) Aishwarya Bhava (Self-Reliance).
These bhavas are not just feelings, but deeply ingrained attitudes that shape a one's approach to yoga and life.
Dharma Bhava (Duty): A duty bound person will fulfil all his tasks needed to be done, and will also take initiative in doing new, more creative and productive tasks with a vision ahead. That makes him a leader. He is focussed towards the goal.
Meditating and practising asanas like Stith prarthnasana, Sukhasana, Vajrasana, Padmasana, helps develop this Bhava.
Jnana Bhava (Knowledge): It makes a person self-developed in learning, evolution and growth. And the more the leader learns, the more he grows, he or she evolves. And the more he leads better from the front, leading with an example. He is aware of all the qualities of self and the team.
Yoga asanas like Trikonasana, Vrikshasana, Vakrasana, Ardha Matsyendrasana helps in developing attention, awareness and concentration.
Vairagya Bhava (Letting go or Objectivity): Vairagya is also objectivity and detachment from unnecessary distractions. Anybody living with that Bhava will think about others first and not about just self-first as selfish beings. The objectivity becomes collective growth, collective consciousness, collective productivity, collective creativity, collective abundance. This makes him a good leader. Letting go and making peace and bliss with situation.
Forward bending asanas like Balasana, Paschimottanasana, Padahasatasana helps in developing feeling of ‘let go’.
Aishwarya Bhava (Self-Reliance): A leader as much as he leads the team, also delegates work well. As much he himself is of all the traits which others can, he too can. He keeps learning and developing and he does work himself. And relies on himself more than the team. Because just relying on the team can cripple and collapse all operations someday. But self-reliant - Swavlamban - can make a leader true in every sense. He or she is a confident person.
Are We Healthier Than Our Grandparents—Or Just More Dependent?Challenging and difficult poses like Chakrasana, Mayurasana, Sarvangasana helps in developing confidence.
Leaders need a lot of resilience. Their personality should be very tenacious. They should be long lasting. They should be everlasting. Leaders can work tirelessly, relentlessly and then the followers or the team could look up at them and follow them and get inspired and motivated. For that, the leaders should have a nice fitness workout training program which could be of varied kinds.
Leaders are born, and Leaders are the one who can translate vision into reality.
