New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence announced that India had successfully test-fired the short-range ballistic missiles Prithvi-II and Agni-1 from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha On Thursday (July 17)
The Ministry posted an update on micro-blogging website X, “Successful test-firing of Short-Range #BallisticMissile - #Prithvi-II and #Agni-1 - was carried out from the Integrated Test Range in #Chandipur, Odisha today. All operational and technical parameters have been validated. The launches were conducted under the aegis of Strategic Forces Command."

Specifications Of Prithvi-II
Originally developed for the Indian Air Force as its primary user, the missile was later inducted into the Indian Army as well. The Prithvi-II is a indigenous short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) designed for surface-to-surface strikes. It has an operational range of about 350 kilometres and can carry a payload of up to one tonne.
The Prithvi-II class is a single-stage, liquid-fuelled missile capable of carrying warheads weighing between 500 kg and 1,000 kg. The missile is a battle-proven system, capable of hitting targets with exceptional accuracy.
Specifications Of Agni-1
The Agni-1 ballistic missile is a medium-range ballistic missile with a range of 700 to 900 kilometres. The missile is single-stage and uses solid propellant. It can carry a nuclear warhead with an estimated payload capacity of 1,000 kg.
