Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The girls have shown special interest in hockey training at the ongoing summer camp of Central Sports and Arts Council of state-owned MP Power Management Company Limited at Pandutal Maidan.
The camp is organised for budding hockey players in the city where the experts inform about the intricacies of the game.
The players are also informed on the history of hockey globally, nationally and in Jabalpur city.
The trainees are being taught art of dribbling, hitting, pushing and the correct way to stop by coordinating Indian and European hockey styles.
Simultaneously, they are being kept fit through physical exercise and light weight lifting.
The girls participating in the camp share a view that their objective is to become the best hockey player.
The girls said they see potential in hockey, looking at the contributions and fame of various hockey players from Jabalpur. Some went on to be members of national hockey team, some got the Arjuna Award. Some of the best-known players are ex-captain of India national team Madhu Yadav and Avinash Sidhu.
During the training camp, experts provide information regarding discipline and game rules.
The camp's operation is supported by hockey in-charge Sanjay Kene, Shakeel Afridi, B.S. Tripathi, and other senior players.
It is noteworthy that hockey players who received training from Pandutal Maidan in previous years have represented Madhya Pradesh's team in national school, national sub-junior, junior, and senior hockey competitions, earning recognition.
Rajeev Gupta, general secretary of Central Sports and Arts Council, inspected the camp and encouraged all participants and trainers.
