Ghazipur: The North Eastern Railway has installed a new sensor-equipped water level monitoring system on the Rail-Road Bridge No. 18 over the Ganga River in Ghazipur to ensure the safe operation of trains. This advanced system will automatically provide information about the Ganga's water level via SMS alerts to concerned officials.
According to railway authorities, this system is solar-panel operated and features a chip enabled sensor that regularly sends water level data via SMS. This innovation makes it easier to take immediate action and secure railway tracks in the event of floods or rising water levels.
The system is particularly crucial for monitoring railway bridges during the monsoon season, when rivers often swell and flood risks increase.
Aditya Kumar Tiwari, PWI of North Eastern Railway, stated that this sensor system, powered by solar panels, will consistently provide water level information via SMS alerts, thereby enhancing the safety of railway bridges.
