Every year Sharad Purnima is celebrated on the full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. This year this date is falling on 16 October, so the festival of Sharad Purnima will also be celebrated on 16 October.
According to beliefs, there is a tradition of worshiping Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and Lord Vishnu on this day. The night of Sharad Purnima is considered very special. There is a tradition of making kheer on this day. In such a situation, today we are going to tell you the right method of making kheer, so that you too can make delicious kheer on the day of Sharad Purnima. If kheer is made properly, then its taste also increases manifold. So let us teach you how to make kheer.
Ingredients for making kheer
1/4 cup basmati rice
1 liter milk (full cream)
1/4 to 1/3 cup sugar
4-5 green cardamoms (coarsely ground)
10-12 cashews (chopped)
10-12 almonds (chopped)
10-12 raisins
8-10 pistachios (chopped)
Saffron threads
Method
To make rice kheer, first boil milk in a thick bottom vessel. When the milk starts boiling, add soaked rice to it. Now let it cook on low flame. You have to keep stirring the rice continuously, so that it does not stick to the bottom of the vessel. Let these rice cook in the milk on low flame.
When the rice starts melting and the milk becomes thick, add powdered sugar and cardamom to it. It may take about 30-40 minutes for the rice to melt. After adding sugar, keep stirring the kheer continuously, otherwise there will be a fear of it burning.
When the sugar dissolves, add chopped cashews, almonds and raisins to it. You can also add saffron and pistachios as per taste. Cook it for 5-10 minutes more so that the dry fruits also mix well in the kheer.
When the kheer thickens well and the dry fruits are also cooked, then turn off the gas. Now Sharad Purnima kheer is ready. You can offer it.
