Fertility Problems: Women face many challenges during pregnancy, one of which is their height. Let's explain the challenges faced by short women.

Fertility Problems In Women: You've often heard that women have difficulty conceiving due to diet and health, but have you ever heard that height also affects conceiving? If not, it's true. Many factors impact a woman's pregnancy, and height is one of them. Let's explore whether height truly impacts pregnancy and, if so, how to prevent it.
What do experts say?
Dr. Sunita Kumari, medical director and IVF expert at a private IVF center in Patna, says that it's undeniable that short height doesn't pose any challenges during pregnancy. According to the doctor, numerous articles have been published regarding this issue, showing that babies born to short women were born with low birth weights and short stature. Sunita explains that due to the mother's short stature, the space for the baby to exit the pelvic cavity is also narrow. Therefore, if the baby weighs more than 2.5 kilograms at birth, she faces several complications, such as obstructive labor, a complicated, prolonged labor, and the possibility of increased labor pain. Simply put, if a woman is short, her baby may be underweight. However, this problem can be mitigated through diet and proper care.
This thing came to light in research.
Numerous studies have been conducted on this issue, which have found that short women may face more difficulties during pregnancy and delivery. According to a study by BJOG (Wiley Journal), short women have a higher risk of gestational diabetes, preterm birth, and C-section delivery. Furthermore, children are at risk of child mortality and undernutrition. The greatest risk is when a woman is short and underweight. According to a published South Asia study, if a woman is short and overweight, the risk of a C-section increases by 170 percent. However, it is important to note that this does not mean that all short women are at risk.
