People suffering from obesity are struggling to lose weight. Many people follow different types of diet plans, while some resort to medicines. But do you know that losing too much weight in a short time has a bad effect on health. In such a situation, what is the right way?
People want to lose weight to overcome the problem of obesity, but losing weight too fast can be dangerous. This can cause digestive problems, fatigue and lack of energy, weak bones, weak immunity, hair loss, muscle cramps, dehydration, malnutrition and gallstones. According to doctors, people should avoid all such diet plans that claim to reduce weight rapidly in a few days.
Do not give up a balanced diet at all
Rapid weight loss occurs when you reduce the amount of food by less than half. Due to this, the metabolism slows down and goes into starvation mode. This mode slows down the metabolism to save energy in the body. Its biggest disadvantage is that as soon as you start eating and drinking again like before, the weight increases even more than before.
Due to the disturbance in metabolism, the body's ability to keep weight low is affected. Many diet plans for rapid weight loss include less than 800 grams of calories per day, which is not right.
How many calories are needed daily?
An adult needs 1200-1300 calories per day, which is called basal metabolic rate. The body needs energy to complete many tasks every day without getting tired. It is also needed to keep the metabolism healthy. In such a situation, by taking only 800 calories a day, the body does not get the necessary energy and there is a deficiency of nutrients.
Disadvantages of rapid weight loss
Rapid weight loss or gain affects skin elasticity and it stops working in this process. The skin starts looking lifeless and sick. In this situation, a thin body does not give you a pleasant feeling and you are surrounded by mental anxiety. Apart from this, many types of mental problems start occurring due to deterioration of diet and lack of nutrients.
Apart from this, by keeping a distance from favorite things, after a time you will not be able to stop yourself from eating food as soon as you see it. This happens due to the imbalance of leptin hormone level.
How much weight is right to lose?
The body needs a certain amount of fat, protein and carbohydrates to function properly. Apart from this, vitamins and minerals are also needed, which we call a balanced diet.
Senior doctor Dr. Jugal Kishore says that instead of losing weight fast, it is beneficial to lose weight at a right pace. It is right to lose 400 to 900 grams of weight in a week. Trying to lose more weight than this can harm the body. Ask a dietitian for a special diet plan and make it a habit to exercise regularly. This will help you lose weight properly.
