On Sunday, England retained their European Championship crown after a penalty shootout victory over world champions Spain. The Lionesses were in their third successive final under manager Sarina Wiegman.

After initially going behind to Spain, Alessia Russo’s second-half goal drew England level. It remained all square after 120 minutes, setting up a nail-biting penalty shootout. Chloe Kelly’s decisive strike won the match and the tournament for England.
