While Gail has been mentioned occasionally since she left for France with Jesse, it was only last month that David, played by Celebrity winner, Jack P Shepherd, his wife Shona (), and their children visited the matriarch.
There's been a lot going on in Weathefield in recent weeks for the Platts, including their house catching fire, David contemplating suicide, and Max (played by Paddy Bever) getting banged up due to David's dodgy dealings with criminal Harvey Gaskell (portrayed by Will Mellor).
However, after taking the much-needed trip to see Gail, David told his sister, Sarah, he was glad to be back, complaining that their mum was "doing his head in by the end of it."
His wife Shona countered: "Oh she's just happy," as David mused: "If she's happy why does she have to ask us so many questions all the time?".
Reminding her husband of all the recent drama going on in Weatherfield, Shona commented: "Oh because there's quite a lot to catch up on: the house burning down, Max going to prison." To which David replied: "Well we sent texts, she knew all that."

While many fans were delighted to see David back on their screens, some said they were "heartbroken" that Gail did not return with them.
Taking to the one viewer lamented: "As much as I'm glad David is back, I was really hoping Gail would be there too."
Another said: "Yeah I was heartbroken to not see her, not going to lie" while a third shared: "Same here. I keep expecting to see her pop up."
Since making her debut in Corrie 50 years ago, actress, Helen, has been gifted with some seriously juicy storylines, involving murders, steamy affairs as well as the perennial drama surrounding her three kids, Nick (), Sarah and David.
However, in June last year, the seasoned star decided it was time for a change as she made statement, which devastated her legion of loyal fans saying: "This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world. I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers, who were very kind and understanding."
