Joleon Lescott has revealed that Micah Richards was given a private section for his Reading Festival DJ set. But the Sky Sports star ended up in the crowd proper with a bottle of Jagermeister.
Since hanging up his boots in 2017, Lescott, who played almost 300 times in the Premier League for the likes of Everton, Manchester City and Aston Villa, has turned his sights to the rave. He revealed in 2024 that he would like to pursue a career in DJing and made his festival debut with a house music mix on Sunday.
Lescott received a booking at Reading Festival, which attracts approximately 90,000 people over the weekend. The 43-year-old made his bow at 6pm on Sunday at the Jagermeister Stage and was joined by a very special guest who left his dedicated section behind to bask in a packed-out crowd.

"He wasn't meant to be there [in the crowd]. He was meant to be there at the Festival, he was coming with me. I got him a section," began Lescott, speaking on In The Mixer, brought to you by Sky Bet.
"I can't go anywhere with Meeks [Richards] anymore, man, I have to be very selective in where we go because he's probably the most recognisable human in… He's that guy.
"So I said, 'This is the section, you won't be bothered, you can enjoy yourself.' I didn't tell no one he was coming. I just got the accreditation.

"Didn't tell any of the people. Just made sure he could have a good time, have a day off and then... I get on the decks and he's in the crowd! I had him a section there, he doesn't want to be there, he wants to be the mixer," Lescott exclaimed.
Guest Carlton Cole chimed in: "What's he doing with a bottle of Jager as well!" Lescott replied: "That's what the tent was for. It was Jager. Jagermeister tent. His energy is infectious, man."
Lescott continued when asked about the set: "Unreal feeling. I've DJed, but not at that level. That was insane. Insane, I can't even explain. I got in the car on the way home, I was just so drained. Fell asleep. Fell asleep on the phone!"
Ex-Chelsea and West Ham striker Cole also shared his affinity for music, and opened up about how he and some of his former team-mates attend festivals undercover.
"You've got to understand, footballers think we were musicians back in the day, and musicians wanted to be footballers, so that's why the two worlds collide," added Cole.
"We go to festivals. I went to Glastonbury, I went to a few places, right? Me, Bridgie [Wayne Bridge], and Joe Cole, basically we go, we do all this other stuff, right, around town." Lescott chimed in: "Disguised!" with Cole retorting: "We're just doing side quests at the moment."
