Love Island bombshell Giorgio's famous sister revealed as he enters villa

Send Push

Love Island's latest bombshell Giorgio Russo has entered the ITV2 villa in search of love - and his famous sister will be cheering him on at home. Last night's episode of the reality show saw four new bombshells arrive on the show, with newbies Caprice, Giorgio, Poppy and Will getting the chance to take four cast members of their choice on a date.

However, this won't be 30-year-old account manager Giorgio's first taste of fame. The star, who is based in Australia but born in Maidstone in Kent, is the brother of Lioness footballer Alessia Russo - and regularly posts photos with his celebrity sister.

Alessia, who is both an England Lioness and an Arsenal Women star, recently celebrated Arsenal's Champion League win with her older brother. Giorgio posted on Instagram, writing: "Turns out being related to a Champions League winner doesn’t make me any better at football… but it does make me insanely proud.

"Congratulations, @alessia you make me prouder and prouder to be your big brother everyday."

Speaking ahead of his Love Island debut, Giorgio said that Alessia will be tuning in to watch him every night and that she's really excited for him to take part in the show as a fan.

He added that with his family's sporting background, he's looking for a woman who loves football. "My sister plays pro football, so being interested in sport, they don’t have to know football or understand it, but if they can show some sort of interest because it is such a prominent thing in our family," he said. "It would be hard if they hated it."

Alessia isn't Giorgio's only sibling however - the pair have another brother with links to football. Luca is the Vice President of Women's Football Europe at Wasserman and recently welcomed his first child with wife Lauren Russo. "She made us three - and showed us what true strength looks like in the process," the couple posted on Instagram earlier this month.

"Rosa Russo \ 23.05.25. Her first days were harder than we'd ever imagined, but she's home now and she's everything."

Earlier this week, ex Love Island contestant Malin Andersson called for the show to be axed after being "treated like trash". She told The Mirror in an exclusive interview: "It should be axed. When I was on it, we were naive, it felt more organic – still scripted but more authentic. Even then, it wasn’t pure, it was full of toxicity. Now millions watch it, especially young people, and their idea of love gets completely skewed."
