Peace lilies, the low-fuss houseplants, may hit a rough patch in summer without some tender love and care. While they're usually quite undemanding, with occasional watering often being enough, come summertime, these hardy plants need more than just hydration.

Craig Wilson, gardening expert and founder of Gardeners Dream, advises transferring your lilies to a moister setting found typically in your home.

Craig emphasises the easy-going nature of peace lilies: "Peace lilies need watering, but not nearly as much as you might expect.

"Normally, it is best to water your peace lily every few days, with the plant even being tolerant to being watered less often if it is kept somewhere humid in the house like the bathroom."

In their native rainforest environment, peace lilies thrive on the forest floor, basking in the humidity and sipping moisture from the balmy air, reports the Express.

That’s precisely why placing a peace lily in your bathroom or kitchen can do wonders, allowing it to soak up the steamy atmosphere and flourish.

Moreover, as they're accustomed to the dappled sunlight of the jungle, shielded by towering trees, peace lilies should be stationed near but not adjacent to windows, ensuring they get filtered light akin to their natural habitat.

Craig advised: "It is best not to leave peace lilies by external doors or windows because the plants don't do well in exposed conditions."

Peace lilies thrive away from too much sun or dry air, which can hinder their flowering, so finding a spot that mimics their natural habitat is key for those blooms.

Don't fret if your bathroom or kitchen can't accommodate a peace lily; other areas of the home with regular footfall also offer sufficient humidity.

For optimal growth, position your peace lily where it can bask in the morning sunlight, which is less intense than the afternoon rays.
