Jaisalmer Bus Fire Tragedy: 12 Dead, Several Injured After Private Bus Catches Fire, Chaos Erupts on Highway

In a horrifying accident on Tuesday, a private bus traveling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur caught fire near the War Museum, leading to the tragic death of 12 passengers and leaving many others critically injured. The devastating scene on the Jaisalmer Highway was filled with screams, smoke, and panic as flames engulfed the entire vehicle.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus was moving normally when smoke suddenly began to rise from its rear section near the War Museum. Within moments, the smoke turned into fierce flames, trapping several passengers inside. Out of the 57 passengers on board, some managed to escape by breaking the windows and jumping off the burning vehicle, but others were unable to make it out in time.

Local police and fire brigade teams reached the site promptly and managed to extinguish the fire after intense efforts. The injured were immediately rushed to Jawahar Hospital in Jaisalmer through emergency ambulances. Unfortunately, 12 victims succumbed to their injuries during treatment, while others in critical condition were referred to Jodhpur for advanced care.

ЁЯЪи Initial Findings Point to Short Circuit

Assistant Fire Officer Krishanpal Singh Rathore stated that preliminary investigations suggest a short circuit may have triggered the fire. A detailed forensic examination is underway to determine the exact cause and assess any lapses in safety compliance by the bus operator.

Relief and Rescue Operations

The district administration has set up a control room to assist the relatives of the victims and provide updates about the injured. Special arrangements have been made for psychological support and emergency aid to the affected families.

CM Bhajan Lal Sharma Expresses Grief

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and directed officials to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured and extend all necessary assistance to the families of the deceased. He also instructed the Jaisalmer Collector and Superintendent of Police to maintain constant supervision of the relief work.
