Diwali is celebrated with great pomp every year across the country. This festival symbolizes moving from darkness to light, and people eagerly wait for it. This year there was some confusion about the date of Diwali, whether it will be celebrated on October 31 or November 1. Uttar Pradesh: Three-day holiday: Diwali holidays in Uttar Pradesh will start from October 31. Along with this, there will be a holiday for Govardhan Puja on November 2 and Bhai Dooj on November 3. Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan will also have two to three days of holidays. Madhya Pradesh will have Diwali holidays on November 1 and 2. Bihar will also have holidays on November 1 and 2. A three-day holiday has been declared in Rajasthan from October 31 to November 2. Here, people decorate their houses traditionally with diyas and rangoli.

Gujarat: Three-day holiday: Along with Diwali, New Year is also celebrated in Gujarat. There will be a three-day holiday from 31st October to 2nd November. During this time people will be busy cleaning the house and doing puja, which will increase the joy of the festival.

Maharashtra: Two-day holiday: The Diwali holiday will be observed on November 1 and 2 in Maharashtra. Government offices as well as schools may get 7 to 10 days of Diwali holiday so that children can enjoy the festival with their families.

Tamil Nadu: Two-day holiday: Diwali holidays have been declared in Tamil Nadu on October 31 and November 1. Fireworks and sweets have special significance here, and people prepare for this festival with great pomp.

Holidays in Karnataka, Kerala, and other states: Karnataka will have Diwali holidays on November 1 and 2, while Kerala will get a holiday only on November 1. Smaller states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, and Odisha will get 1 or 2 day holidays, which are decided according to the local traditions there.
