Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2024 edition of its E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB) sedan in India, with prices starting at Rs 78.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model features design upgrades, enhanced technology, and updated engine options, keeping it competitive in the luxury sedan segment. India is the only country where the right-hand-drive (RHD) version of the long-wheelbase E-Class is manufactured, and it is produced at Mercedes' Pune facility.

Refreshed Design and Dimensions

The 2024 E-Class LWB retains its classic shape but includes several design enhancements. It now measures 5,092mm in length, with a 15mm increase in wheelbase, offering more passenger space. However, the height has been reduced by 2mm, giving the sedan a sportier look.

The front grille has been redesigned with a star-patterned Avantgarde look, flanked by slimmer LED headlights. The new front bumper gives the car a sharper appearance, while chrome accents add a touch of elegance. At the rear, the updated taillights feature 3D star-shaped elements. The door handles are flush-fitting and pop out when needed, while the rear quarter glass draws inspiration from the Maybach, enhancing the premium feel.

The sedan is available in five color options: Nautic Blue, Obsidian Black, High Tech Silver, Graphite Grey, and Polar White. The addition of new 18-inch alloy wheels complements its refined design.

Luxury and Technology-Rich Interior

The interior of the 2024 E-Class LWB focuses on luxury and cutting-edge technology. The centerpiece is the MBUX Superscreen, which includes a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 14.4-inch central infotainment screen, and an additional 12.3-inch screen for the front passenger. This screen setup creates an immersive driving experience.

Rear-seat passengers benefit from powered outer seats, headrest cushions, powered sunblinds, a four-zone climate control system, and a wireless charging pad. For entertainment, the sedan is equipped with a 64-color ambient lighting system and a 730W Burmester 4D sound system featuring 17 speakers. Other premium features include memory functions for the front seats, soft-close doors, and a powered tailgate.

Mercedes-Benz emphasized that the 2024 E-Class LWB was designed to provide a complete luxury experience, particularly for rear-seat passengers.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The 2024 E-Class LWB comes equipped with advanced safety features, including multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and a 360-degree camera system. The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite offers adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking to enhance safety and convenience.

The brand highlighted that these features are aimed at making driving safer and reducing driver fatigue by preventing accidents.

Engine Options and Performance

The 2024 E-Class LWB offers three engine options, each paired with an automatic transmission. The E 200 variant has a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 194 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The E 220d features a 2.0-litre diesel engine delivering 197 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Both are paired with Mercedes' nine-speed automatic gearbox.

For those seeking more power, the E 450 4MATIC variant is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, generating 380 hp and 550 Nm of torque. It also includes a mild-hybrid system, providing an additional 23 hp and 205 Nm of torque during short bursts for enhanced performance.

Pricing and Availability

The E 200 variant of the 2024 E-Class LWB is priced at Rs 78.5 lakh, while the E 220d costs Rs 81.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec E 450 4MATIC is priced at Rs 92.5 lakh, with deliveries of the E 200 and E 220d set to begin soon, and the E 450 4MATIC expected by November.
