Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended Revenue Inspector (RI) of Radhaballavpur under Dhamnagar Tehsil in Bhadrak, Nagendra Kumar Das, while allegedly accepting Rs 4,000.
According to a Vigilance release, the amount was the second instalment of Rs 7,000 which he had demanded to submit a favourable inquiry report to Dhamnagar tehsildar in a mutation case filed on August 3 or change of records of an inherited land and land acquired through gift deeds.
Das had taken Rs 2,000 bribe a few days back. When the complainant expressed his inability to pay another Rs 5,000, he brought down his demand to Rs 4,000.
Following a complaint, Vigilance authorities laid a trap and nabbed the RI with the bribe money.
Simultaneous searches are currently underway at two locations linked to Das to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
