If you have a jar of spaghetti sauce in your hand and want to elevate its taste simply add a dollop of ricotta which will add a mouthwatering creaminess to your pasta.

Ricotta is the perfect ingredient to use for a low effort pasta sauce that makes for a lighter, mellower tasting Italian meal.

To add the ricotta to your pasta simply stir it into a bowl of hot spaghetti and serve. This soft italian cheese also make a great sauce base when mixed with lemon, greens, herbs and pine nuts.

Foodie expert Food52 says: "A dollop of ricotta or mascarpone adds lightly sweet creaminess, while soft goat cheese or even a humble cream cheese adds tangy richness to elevate dull tomato sauce.
