must decide against signing a new winger and focus on developing the immense talent of Tyrique George. The 19-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance in his brief appearances this season and should play a more integral role in 2025-26.

George was handed his debut earlier this season and has seen his game time increased over the past few months. He has started all but one of Chelsea's last seven Conference League games and recently struck his first senior goal in a 2-1 win over Fulham. His performances landed him the club's Academy Player of the Year award.

Chelsea would risk slowing George's progress with a flurry of signings in the summer transfer window. The Blues have been linked with several wingers who could block the teenager's path to becoming a regular first-team player.

Jamie Gittens, Antoine Semenyo and Alejandro Garnacho are all reported summer targets for the west Londoners. None of them would be the difference in Chelsea winning a trophy next season, which would surely be the only justification for obstructing such a talented young player's development.

At worse, their potential additions would represent yet more expensive signings, prompting another Cobham graduate to move on to bigger and better things. Chelsea's best young players have for too often been the collateral damage to the heavy spending at Stamford Bridge.

George's team-mates all think he is ready for more action. Tosin Adarabioyo told Rio Ferdinand's : "For me, I'd probably say Tyrique George [is the best young player at Chelsea]. For me, he's a very talented boy. He's also got the mindset to push on. He's always looking to improve. I'd say Tyrique George right now at Chelsea."

Fellow winger Pedro Neto added to Chelsea's website: "Like you saw in the game [against Fulham], Tyrique is ready to help the team. He's a really good lad that helps a lot with very good skills and talent.

"The thing he has to do is to continue to do what he's doing, and we will need him in the games. I think he's in the right way to help the team. We are really happy for him as well."

Chelsea must put the cheque book down and focus on developing one of their own. They could have their next superstar without paying a penny.
