Dahlias will produce 'endless flowers' from now until autumn if 3 steps are followed

The tubers that I planted into two wooden raised beds are doing very well. The sunshine, warmth, watering and feeding keep dahlias very happy. The dahlia creates a lot of green leaves, so they can be thinned out if they overwhelm the plant. We want to see all those flowers.

I planted 16 dahlia tubers into two wooden raised beds to produce endless bouquets of cut flowers. Dahlias are relentless flowerers, so they make ideal plants for a summer filled with colour.

They can be encouraged to flower even more by regularly snipping flowers off and deadheading.

This means you can snip flowers off and put them in a vase indoors. However, it's important to remember a few points about successful dahlia growing.

They are hungry feeders, so it's really important to feed them. I use Q4 Pellets from Vitax to ensure the compost is packed with nutrients. They need to be watered regularly to prevent wilting and dieback.

Dahlia stems are green hollow tubs and easily snap, so they definitely need supporting once they are a few feet tall to prevent damage. You can expect endless flowers from dahlias between now and the first frost.
