Jeremy Vine's Channel 5 show took a heated turn as Good Morning Britain star Narinder Kaur argued for taxing the rich in order to fund more benefits. During a segment on the show, they were answering calls from the public when the commentator claimed: "The extremely wealthy aren't being taxed enough."

She added, "If they were, it would bring ..." However, before Narinder could finish, broadcaster Mike Parry interrupted her, interjecting, "They're being taxed very, very heavily." As she hit back: "They're not, not on assets," the former journalist fumed: "More heavily than anyone else in the world." The debate sparked a major reaction from viewers as one reshared the clip on X, formerly known as Twitter, captioned: "Narinder Kaur gets ABSOLUTLY destroyed when she says 'we need to tax the rich' Watching her get educated on how much the rich like @CharlieM_OBE actually pay in tax is hilarious." Addressing the host, Alexis Conran, Mike continued: "Take our old friend Charlie Mullins, for instance, he just stopped and left. He said 'I've worked all my life for my money, I've got a fortune, I'm not giving it to a government who then wastes it on people who don't want to get out of bed in the morning,' and he's got a point."

Narinder fired back: "But therefore, he's not creating equality in society, he's not paying his taxes," but Mike wasn't having any of it as he blasted: "Oh come off it!"

"He paid £100,000,000 in tax during the time he's run his business because he's a wealth creator." As Alexis attempted to settle the debate, Narinder probed: "And how much has he earned?"

"Loads because he's given people 10,000 jobs, Narinder. He gives people jobs," the broadcaster raged.

In the comments, one viewer accused Narinder of being a "total wind-up merchant. Look how delighted she is to get a rise out of that old fella."

While another fumed: "If you asked Narinder: 'How much, exactly, are the extremely wealthy being taxed?' Her answer: *crickets*"

A third penned: "People forget that the people they employ are taxed, the product they sell is taxed, the goods the company buys is taxed, the goods and services the employees buy are taxed, they then pay mortgages and bills etc."

As another viewer suggested: "Just ask how much rich already pay then decide ???"

Narinder was among the backlash and responded: "I won that one actually ..how much has he earned ? Didn't you hear me ask that."
