Instead, why not visit this underrated city, around a three hour flight from UK. It has been described as Europe's "best kept secret".
Forbes has named Sibiu in Romania as one of the top 10 most idyllic cities in Europe. The medieval city, surrounded by beautiful forests filled with bright orange trees this time of year, is great for exploring historical sites and can be a great base for exploring the wider Transylvanian countryside.
Sibiu, home to one of the best Christmas markets, boasts a vibrant food scene, unique architecture and thriving culture. Wander around the cobbled streets and admire beautiful old houses.
A visit to the Brukenthal Palace is a must, as well as a walk across the iconic Bridge of Lies. Tourists also enjoy climbing to the head of the Sibiu tower.

One US man, who recently visited Romania, was totally impressed by Sibiu. He has raved about the food and describes the city as "majestic".
The travel lover, has been sharing his recommendations on his TikTok page @travel.with.mikey. He insists it is the "perfect size" city to explore and he adored going for a walk in Sub Arini Park.
Mikey said: "Europe's best kept secret is hiding. It's in Eastern Europe...it was first occupied by the Saxons, it's named 'the city of eyes' for the attic dormers that resemble eyelids."
He continued, describing it as "Europe's hidden gem", adding: "Such a magical little place that's somehow yet to be discovered by most travellers." Another, who loves the city so much, said: "Please gatekeep this so it won't become overcrowded with tourists."
One individual commented and said: "Sibiu was my favorite city in Romania and one my favs in the Balkans, love it."

How to get there from the UKCurrently, Wizz Air, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines offering flights to Sibiu. While there are som flights, direct flights from the UK to Sibiu are uncommon. The average flight time is 3 hours and four minutes, reports Skyscanner.
Booking.com reports: "The most popular route is from London Luton Airport in London to Sibiu International Airport in Sibiu. On average this flight takes 3 hours one way and costs £206 for the round trip."
