Emmerdale enthusiasts are abuzz with speculation that Tom King (played by James Chase) will meet his demise at the hands of his recent flame Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell) in a spine-chilling murder storyline.
Fans of the long-running ITV soap are well aware of villainous Tom's prolonged campaign of mistreatment towards his estranged spouse Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) which has included a mix of emotional and physical abuses.
Belle's escape from their union didn't put an end to her suffering; Tom swore to maintain a hold on her.
To rouse jealousy in Belle and to masquerade as an ideal partner rather than an abuser, Tom embarked on a romance with Amelia.
As Belle turned to the authorities to report Tom's abuse, she is now reliant on the hope that proof of his manipulative nature can be extracted from his broken iPad - otherwise, she risks conviction for attacking him with an axe, notwithstanding her claim of self-defense.
While law enforcement carries on with the investigation, a handful of Emmerdale watchers are surmising that it will be an infatuated Amelia who ultimately seals Tom's fate and terminates his campaign of fear, reports .
Daisy Campbell's departure from the role of Amelia on the ITV soap opera has been cemented, alongside James Chase as Tom.
Could their exits be connected? Some supporters surmise they might be.
One viewer speculated on Reddit, saying: "I think I know what happens with Tom, or maybe it's just what I hope happens. I don't have all of the details worked out, but Tom will finally attack either Belle or Amelia."
One viewer speculated: "Amelia will strike back and kill Tom. Afterward, Amelia will be convicted and sent to prison. Two people are gone in one incident. It ends Tom and Belle's story, and gets rid of Amelia while technically leaving the door open."
"Also, leaving Esther for Sam and Lydia to raise", added another, while a third remarked: "I suppose it leaves things open for another Vinny style storyline in 20 years...!"
Another fan predicted: "Amelia must kill Tom, right? Because the other option would be Tom killing Amelia and that feels weird/cruel after the episode where Belle imagined him killing her."
They continued: "Also I can't think of another reason why Amelia would be written out if she wasn't killed or sent to prison," concluded another.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm.
