One upon a time there was a pretend princess called Meghan who lives in an enchanted land. It's a beautiful, rich, glittering land where Meghan rules supreme and everything is perfect (her most of all). In Meghan Land the sun always shines, the flowers are always in full bloom and she is the Cinderella-like wife and mother who is adored, admired and fawned over by everyone who visits her Montecito Palace.
But make no mistake, in Meghan's Land - a land that exists only inside her head - only Her Truth matters. And Meghan's truth is that she is, and will always be, Her Royal Highness. Never mind that she actually isn't anymore. Never mind the fact that she and her dopey Prince made a solemn promise to a real Queen, Elizabeth II, never to use the HRH title before they flounced off to America to monetise their newfound position.
Nope, in Meghan's head she IS Her Royal Highness and she wants to be treated as such. And all that's fine until the real world and the real truth comes crashing in which it did this week when Meghan was caught out using the title on a note that was attached to a gift basket of jam (yawn) to her friend and founder of IT cosmetics, Jamie Kern Lima.
The note ended saying: "With the compliments of HRH Duchess of Sussex." Is Meghan really so dense, so lost in the fantasies inside her own head, that she doesn't realise her friends and business associates will 100% know about the agreement she made with the never to use HRH?
Does she not understand how silly, desperate and insecure she looks in the eyes of those people who know that using the HRH title is just an egocentric affectation to make her seem more relevant, more important than she actually is?
Or does she just think her friends are all so dumb they won't know about the agreement she and Harry made with Queen Elizabeth back in 2020 never to use the title?
But now there's a furore over it and people are calling for the King to take action. Of course he won't - he has never gone into battle with Harry and Meghan which is why they're out of control and know they can do exactly as they want.
And THAT'S precisely why Meghan will never stop using the title. She knows there's nothing the King will do - which is probably because he's got other things on his mind like fighting .
So, I'm guessing she'll just keep her head down for a few days, wait for the fuss to die down and she'll just carry on ruling over Meghan Land still using the HRH title, still behaving and living the life of a royal which she insisted was a life she had left behind.
She'll continue to spend her days with her bees, baking cakes and making lavender bags (in her white linen designer shirts) believing the whole world revolves around her and everything she says.
And she'll be safe in the knowledge that no-one will dare challenge her over using the HRH title. Certainly not the fawning Ms Kern Lima - who she sent the note to and certainly no-one else in her vacuous, doting circle which shows how few real friends Meghan has.
Because a real friend would say: "You're making a fool of yourself by using this title. You look silly and pathetic. Stop it."
I'm guessing her spokespeople are also forced to live by Meghan Land laws because they put out a statement saying the Duchess definitely doesn't use the HRH title even though this note is absolute proof that she does.
OK, so it's clear Harry has no control over what his wife does or the promises she breaks and he can't stop her using the title. Maybe that's because he too has no choice but to adhere to Meghan Land's laws - a land he can only escape during his brief forays to the UK to sue people.
But Meghan WILL get away with this hideous betrayal of the Queen for the simple reason that will let her. Just as he's let her and Harry get away with everything these past five years.
Had ALL of their titles been taken away in 2020 when they left Britain - including their Duke and Duchess titles - none of this would be happened because Stateside they'd just have been Harry and Meghan Windsor - of no interest to anyone.
But it would have taken an act of Parliament to remove them and at the time the Queen and Prince Charles thought it would be too spiteful to do it. I wonder if five years - and so much damage later - he still thinks that?
I wonder when he looks at the family Harry and Meghan tried so hard to destroy, when he thinks about the betrayals and the hurt, whether he wishes he had done things differently? He and the Queen trusted Harry and Meghan not use the titles and both have been betrayed.
But is anyone really surprised that Meghan's broken her promise? Some might say it's nowhere near as bad as stealing the Queen's private name Lilibet. It's nowhere near as bad as branding the family who did nothing but support her as racists.
It's nowhere near as bad as spending the last five years whining about her 18 months of hell inside the Royal Family. What's so surprising is that she even wants to use the HRH title. After all it was bestowed on her by a family and an institution she hates and claims tried to destroy her.
Others will say she wants to use the HRT title as a marketing advantage. And I'm sure that's true. Meghan will do anything to make a fast buck. But I think the main reason she uses it is because in her head she IS Her Royal Highness and nothing's ever going to change that.
But watching her try to weave this fantasy around herself you have to wonder about her state of mind and whether Meghan Land will eventually replace her reality and swallow her up completely.
Because referring to herself as Her Royal Highness shows just how far removed from reality she is. Growing up, Meghan dreamed about being a fairytale princess and having a royal life and nothing now is going to get in the way of that. Not her Prince, not reality, not the truth!
