A psychological horror film streaming now has been hailed by fans as a "great mind bender" with one of the most "rewarding" endings ever. Triangle (2009) tells the story of a group of friends, played by Melissa George, Michael Dorman, Rachael Carpani, Henry Nixon, Emma Lung, and Liam Hemsworth who go on a boating trip together off the coast of Florida, but are forced to abandon their small vessel in choppy waters.
They then board a mysterious cruise liner, but begin to believe that someone aboard is hunting them. The film was a British-Australian co-production written and directed by British director Christopher Smith (known for films like horror spoof Severance, and Black Death, starring Sean Bean).
The film, which was shot in Australia, is intentionally challenging and complex with a time-distorting narrative that some struggled with.
One Audience Reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes wrote: "It's sort of confusing but once the movie ends it is the most rewarding ending of a film ever,"
A second jokingly suggested that have to be a bit of brainbox to fully understand it, or do your own research about it after.
"I was really surprised to see such a low audience score at the time of my rating (66%)," they wrote.
"You need a few IQ points to grasp the movie but it's actually easy enough to follow for most. I was entertained the entire movie.
"Fast paced, super intense, always a little bit of mystery to keep you wondering, interesting concept.
"It's great when you understand 90% of the movie as a whole and then get to go down a few YouTube rabbit holes to fill any gaps afterwards. Thoroughly entertained, will recommend to all friends."
A third said: "This was a great movie. Melissa George was great. Great mind bender."
A fourth said: "Entertaining throughout with exciting twists. Will keep you on the edge of your seat."
The film has a 15 certificate and contains strong violence, horror and language - so may not be for everyone.
The film is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 78% score on the site's Tomatometer, which reflects the percentage of approved critics who have given it a positive review.
On the site's Popcornmeter, which relects general audience's responses, the film is currently 66%.
Triangle is streaming now on Amazon Prime and is available to buy or rent on other platforms.
